Key Initiatives (2026–2028)
AILARS will prioritise a focused set of initiatives during 2026–2028 to translate research into national capability, policy influence, and sustainable funding.
Coordinated Funding Programs
- Preparation of ARC Industrial Training Centre–style proposals.
- Positioning for CRC / CRC-P–scale initiatives.
- Industry co-funded flagship demonstrators aligned with AILARS research pillars.
- Operation of a lightweight partnership clearing house to support coordinated funding efforts by facilitating early-stage matchmaking between researchers and prospective industry or government partners (e.g., for ARC Discovery Projects (DP), Linkage, and equivalent schemes), including expressions of interest, capability mapping, and initial scoping discussions.
Industry and Government Whitepapers
Production of concise (3–5 page) whitepapers translating neurosymbolic research into actionable guidance for industry and policymakers, targeting domains such as healthcare, intelligent transport, smart agriculture, and AI-enabled finance. Military-oriented applications will be explicitly excluded as an Institute promoted activity.
Community and Talent Development
- Workshops and International Conferences (Australian NeuroSymbolic Systems Workshop https://neurosymbolic-systems.github.io and International Conference on Learning and Reasoning Systems (https://iclars-conf.org)).
- Doctoral and early-career researcher training aligned with AILARS themes.
- Visiting scholar programs and international exchanges.
- Community hosted resources, repository links and website.
